Using the Admin Functions

The Admin screen is used by school administrators and teachers to register or move a kiosk, and by administrators, teachers and school computer support technicians to change update times or restart the kiosk.

To perform any of these functions, the administrator, teacher or school computer technician should begin by touching the purple Admin button. The resulting screen will present an on-screen keyboard and ask for a user ID. Type a teacher, administrator or support user ID into the box using the on-screen keyboard and press the Enter key when done. Next, type the teacher, administrator or support password into the box on the following screen and press Enter again.

After the system has authenticated the user’s data, the screen will show basic information concerning the kiosk and its location.

Register Kiosk

Kiosks need to be registered once only by the school administrator or a teacher prior to their initial use. To proceed with registration, the administrator or teacher simply touches the Register Kiosk button. The system will automatically register the kiosk’s data location to that of the logged-in administrator or teacher.  After a kiosk has been registered, this button becomes the Move Kiosk button.

Do not do this while logged in as technical support. Doing so will register the kiosk to the wrong school.

Move Kiosk

If a kiosk has been moved from one school to another, the kiosk registration will need to be moved to the new school. Touch the Move Kiosk button. The system will automatically proceed with moving the kiosk to the school

Do not do this while logged in as technical support. Doing so will move the kiosk to the wrong school.

Change Update Times

Periodic software updates are automatically forwarded to each kiosk. These updates make the kiosk systems unavailable for the period of the update. By default, the update times are set to occur between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM. If it becomes necessary to use the kiosk between those hours, the update times may be changed using the up-down arrows in the start and stop boxes. Touching the Done button at the lower right closes the screen and saves the time changes.
